2001.06.06 - ARGOSY CONTRACTS WITH MCGILL UNIVERSITY
(MONTREAL, CANADA) ON AN NIH MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING
REPOSITORY PROGRAM
06.06.2001, North Bethesda, MD, USA – Argosy Omnimedia, Inc.
has been contracted by McGill University in Montreal, Canada
to design, enhance and integrate a data aggregation and
management network for MRI data. Argosy will provide
software, hardware, integration services and training in
support of McGill’s central Data Coordinating Center (DCC),
part of a major international study sponsored by the
National Institutes of Health (NIH). Study centers at UCLA,
Harvard University and ten other Pediatric Study Centers
will use advanced neuroimaging technologies to populate a
large cross-sectional and longitudinal database of normative
developmental brain data for use in researching, diagnosing
and treating childhood brain disorders. The group will
develop a data-sharing plan to make this resource available
to the medical and research community.
Rob Montgomery, President of Argosy,
states, “We are honored to work with Dr. Zeffiro and to be
selected to help enable and support this important
project. This is the first study of which we are aware
that will harness the power of neuroimaging technologies,
specialized imaging analysis tools and state-of-the-art data
management techniques to develop a shared database and set
of tools for studying childhood brain disorders. We are
pleased to be able to make a contribution to this effort.
It fits squarely within our core competencies of building
collaborative computing infrastructures and integrating
specialized bioinformatic applications to facilitate life
science research and development.”
Tom Zeffiro, Co-Principle Investigator
and member of the project steering committee, stated, “We
are pleased to have Argosy Omnimedia as a consultant and
technology partner on this project. Being able to rely on
Argosy, with its proven expertise in custom software
integration, data management and collaborative computing
solutions, to build the DCC infrastructure will allow the
rest of the project team to focus on data collection and
analysis. This will be a good example of technology
facilitating collaborative research.”
